Refurbished Gym Officially Reopens at Greasley Sports & Community Centre

The event welcomed members, guests and dignitaries, including the Mayor of Broxtowe and her Consort, as well as the Mayor of our close neighbours, Kimberley Town Council.

Chairman of the Greasley Sports & Community Centre Committee, Cllr Andrew Waterhouse, addressed those gathered, highlighting the importance of investing in facilities that benefit residents of all ages.

“This gym is more than just new equipment and a refurbished space. It is an investment in the health, wellbeing and future of our community—a place where people of all ages can come together to improve their fitness, build confidence, make friends and support one another.”

Cllr Waterhouse has been a driving force behind the refurbishment project from the outset, working alongside fellow parish councillors to bring the plans to fruition. The project demonstrates the valuable role parish councils play in delivering improvements that make a real difference to local communities.

The official ribbon-cutting was carried out by Centre Manager Gary Breach. Gary has worked tirelessly throughout the refurbishment, overseeing the project from start to finish and ensuring the new gym meets the needs of both existing and future members. As a familiar and much-valued member of the Greasley Sports & Community Centre team, it was especially fitting that he officially reopened the facility.

The Parish Council would like to thank everyone who attended the reopening and everyone who has contributed to the success of the project. We hope the refurbished gym will be enjoyed by the community for many years to come, providing a welcoming, modern space where people can improve their health, wellbeing and fitness.
