Greasley Parish Council would like to invite you to be a part of the upcoming Community Governance Review (CGR) Consultation on February 9th, 2024.
This is a crucial opportunity for you to shape the future governance and services in our beloved community! Your active involvement will help your Councillors advocate for you, ensuring that Broxtowe Borough Council hear first hand what is needed to best serve Greasley.
Broxtowe Borough Council has recently started to conduct a comprehensive Community Governance Review (CGR) aimed at evaluating and potentially modifying the governance arrangements of all parishes within its jurisdiction. This review holds particular significance for our parish, and has potential implications for the future of Greasley Parish Council and the services it provides.
There are currently 3 options proposed by the CGR for the future of Greasley. You have been sent this letter because your property may be directly impacted by a move in to or out of our Parish should the proposals in Option 1 or 2 be carried forwards. These options are outlined roughly below, however more detailed maps and descriptions can be seen at the consultation event:
- Option 1; the abolition of Eastwood and Greasley, and the formation of one new larger parish. Watnall would join Kimberley Town, and Larkfields would join Nuthall.
- Option 2; Changes to the boundaries of Greasley. Coach Drive area would join Eastwood Town. The Beamlight and Matkins Tip areas would join Eastwood Town. Larkfields would join Nuthall. Some areas of Newthorpe Common, Dovecote Road, Mill Road and Charles Avenue would join Greasley.
- Option 3; No changes.
This consultation event has been organised by Greasley Parish Council to hear your views on this review so that your Parish Councillors can advocate for the people they represent. This will be a drop-in session and you can attend at any point between 5pm-6:30pm to view large print maps and provide the Parish Councillors with your thoughts on the proposals. Following this consultation evening, your comments will be invaluable in the creation of Greasley Parish Council’s response to the CGR. The Council would like to hear from as many residents as possible during this consultation so that the response can fully express the depth of feeling in the Parish.
Greasley Parish Council was formed in 1894 and is one of the largest parishes in Nottinghamshire. It encompasses the villages of Giltbrook, Greasley, Moorgreen, Newthorpe and Watnall. We want to underscore the potential impact this review may have on your community, Greasley Parish Council and, consequently, the services it provides to our residents. Your active participation in the consultation on the 9th of February is crucial in shaping decisions that will directly influence the future governance and services in our area.
Your insights and perspectives are invaluable as we navigate these governance considerations. If you are unable to attend but would like to see the maps, make a comment, or have any questions regarding the Community Governance Review, please feel free to contact us at clerk@greasleyparishcouncil.gov.uk
