If you have visited Dovecote Recreation Ground and Jubilee Park on Dovecote Road recently, you will notice some pretty big changes.
The old and tired path was becoming overgrown and was very narrow in some places. There were deep trenches in the goal mouths and there were very few places to sit, especially towards the Dunster Road entrance.
With the help of Section 106 contributions, these problems have now been resolved and this recreation ground is now a welcoming place for all its users.
The path from Greasley Sports and Community Centre to Dunster Road has now been widened to 1.5m and fully resurfaced, giving ample space for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and pushchairs. This route also boasts 3 new 1.5m park benches made from 100% British recycled plastic. These benches are quick-drying and splinter-free. 2 walk-through picnic benches, also made of recycled plastic, will be placed near the trees to provide a place to sit and enjoy your local green space.
An additional path has been installed from the Sports and Community Centre entrance to the rear of the MUGA, joining up our two existing paths to create a circular route around the park. One park bench is accessible directly from the hard ground of the path, while another is set back on the grass. This gives visitors a range of seating and provides our canine friends with the option of some soft grass to lie on whilst their owners chat on the benches. The drainage issues to the eastern edge of the field have also been investigated and rectified.
For our more energetic visitors, the goal posts have been relocated to the centre of the field and the previous wear-and-tear has been repaired.
